Moise, William S.
William S. Moise was an American abstract impressionist painter. His favorite subject was the landscapes around Downeast, Maine. In the 1950s Moise and his new wife settled in Hancock, Maine on an old farm where they raised their own livestock, many of whom are shown in Moise’s paintings. For years, he taught art at the public schools of Mount Desert Island. Some other collections that house Moise’s works are the US State Department, University of Maine, and the collections of the late Nelson Rockefeller.
