Judith Swazey became the 2nd college president.

Following Ed Kaelbler’s retirement, Judith Swazey became the college’s second president. Swazey, a bioethicist educated at Wellesley and Harvard, was met with enthusiasm and support from the community. She served as president between 1982 and 1984, a notable period of time in COA’s history due to the Kaelber hall fire of 1983.
