In 1975, Turrets was listed on the National Register of Historic places. This designation notes the historical significance of buildings and structures, and can make it easier to apply for grants towards preservation. Because of this development, COA was able to get funding from the Maine Historic Preservation Commission and the Department of Labor’s Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) towards renovating Turret’s stonework.
Turrets, with its unique architecture and ideal location, is a grand and beautiful addition to COA’s campus. Its status on the Register of Historic places acknowledges and celebrates its unique character and remarkable longevity.
