Mr. Morris Mc Donnald
Pres. Maine Central R.R.
Portland, Maine.
My Dear Sir:-
Persuant to a request and on behalf of the Bar Harbor
Board of Trade, I am writing to urge that you arrange your New York
to Bar Harbor, Through pullman service so that trains may begin
somewhat earlier and continue later than in seasons past.
Indications point to a sharp increase in travel by Tourists to Mt.
Desert Island for the coming season and we believe that the Hotels
and Cottages are going to be filled far in excess of normal capasity.
Many of the Summer Tourists express a wish to come earlier and stay
later, BUT state that they are prevented from doing so on account of
in-adequate train service.
We believe the Summer Tourist business would be greatly enhansed and
the season lengthened if the Rail Roads will extend this through
pullman service for one month, Beginning May 29th. and ending Oct.
14th. for this season, (instead of June 14th. to Oct. 3rd. as was
the 1915 schedule, )
We Believe the extension of this service for one month as above,
will work to the mutual benefit of the Rail Roads as well as the
Comunity.
Will you kindly give this subject immediate consideration and let
me have your reply in time to report before the Board of Trade at
the next meeting which is called for next wednesday evening.
Yours very truly,
Ch. Comm.
