Preble defendant to be heard and tried in the Supreme Judicial Court at a term the reof next to be holden at Ellsworth in the County of Han ck on the 3rd, Tuesday of January A. D. 1899. I Asenath Spurling of Cranberry Isles in the County of Hancock of lawful age, on oath depose and testify in answer to interrogatories propounded by L. B. Deasy Atty. for Plaintiff, Q. 1: State your name, age, and residence. Ans. Asenath spurling, 65, Cranberry Tales. Q. 2: Do you know Samuel C. Sanford the Plaintiff in this case. Ans. Yes sir Q. 3: Have you sold to Mr. Sanford the plaintiff material to be used in building or repairing his weir if so, state what kind of material and what amount and in what years Ans. I have sold him material, sold him trees about $20. worth, for three years in rotation ending three years ago. Q. 4: How far do you live from the house of Wm. Preble and how long have you lived in your present residence? Ans. I do not know how far it is only a little ways, I have lived here 47 years. Q. 5: Have you had occasion frequently to visit or pass the house of Wm. Preble. Ans. I do sometimes but not very lately. Q. 6. In visiting or passing the house have you seen Samuel C. Sanford engaged in work about the house or place if so what kind of work? Ans. I have seen him mowing and raking some hay planting and such work as that. Q. 7: How often or how many times when you have visited or passed the house hav e you seen him at work? Ans. It is a hard question as I never took much notice I couldn't tell Cross Intorrosatories Q. L: How many trees and what kind and sizes did you sell Mr. Sanford Ans. I don't know but the trees were mostly spruce and fir I received about $20. for them about 5 1/2 & a piece. Q. 2: Can you give the years in which you sold Mr. Sanford the trees? Ans. I have not sold him any for three years back. Q. 3. Do you know you sold him any three years ago? Ans. I do not think I did. Q. 4. How did he happen to buy trees of you? Ans. I do not know unless because they were handier to his weir e. 5: What has been Mr. Sanford's business for the last six years?
