be Charlene Louise Allen AUGUST 7, 1929 - JULY 29,2010 Charlene Louise Allen was born at home on Great Cranberry Island to Elisha and Annie Bunker on August 7, 1929. She was the youngest of five children with; Pauline, Edgar, Leona and Ada. Her earliest ancestor on the island, Benjamin Bunker, settled here in 1760. Charlene was born, lived and died on land that has remained in the family for 250 years. She attended the Longfellow School. She was a selftaught landscape and folk artist and worked for many years as host for the Museum of the Great Cranberry Island Historical Society at the Cranberry House. MEMORIAL SERVICE Charlene raised two sons, (Lawrence Edgar Allen and AUGUST 14, 2010 Gary LelandAllen) on the island. She was proud of and loved her four grandchildren (Patrick Allen, Matilda Allen, Jennifer Allen and Emma Rose Atherton), two nieces, two grand nieces and grand nephew (Lorraine Bracy, Janice MacAllister, Amanda, Christina and Scott Bracy), most of whom lovingly called her "Minnie". Charlene was always cheerful and loved people, loved to dance and loved the spirit of Great Cranberry Island and all who lived or simply ventured here. The family wishes to thank the island community for coming to celebrate the life of Charlene Allen.
